Carlisle United coach Toby Frost has left the Blues, it has been confirmed.

The head of performance has moved on from Brunton Park, head coach Mark Hughes told the News & Star.

Frost had been absent from United's last two games against Gillingham and Barrow.

And Hughes confirmed that the former MK Dons coach was no longer part of the Blues' backroom staff.

"Toby has left the club," said Hughes when asked by the News & Star about his absence after the 1-0 win at Barrow.

The Blues boss and the club have not yet gone into any more detail about Frost's departure.

He becomes the latest member of former boss Mike Williamson's coaching team to leave following Williamson's sacking in early February.

Frost had joined the Blues soon after Williamson's appointment in the autumn, the coach arriving at United on October 1.

But he now follows Ian Watson and Tom Weal in leaving United in the wake of Hughes' appointment as Williamson's successor.

Frost had been a regular figure on matchdays taking the initial stages of United's warm-up, as part of his role overseeing players' fitness.

The Blues recently moved another of Williamson's former coaches, Chris Bell, into the role of performance director.

Other recent coaching changes have seen Sunderland-bound goalkeeping coach Weal replaced by Jack Cudworth.

Jamie Devitt has also stepped up to the academy to become first-team coach under Hughes and No2 Glyn Hodges, following Watson's departure.
